About me
Dr. Laura Hoemeke is a global health consultant and public health professor with long-term experience in advocacy, program design and management, and health policy design, implementation, and analysis. Her experience includes 15 years of residence in Francophone Africa and short-term assignments in Asia and throughout East, West, and Central Africa. As a consultant, she provides technical assistance to a variety of multilateral and bilateral organizations, foundations, and nongovernmental organizations. Her passion is working with countries to support country-led, evidence-driven health systems strengthening and stronger health care delivery.
Laura is a member of the Board of Director of the G4 Alliance, the Global Alliance for Surgical, Obstetric, Trauma, and Anesthesia (SOTA) care, a 70+-member coalition that advocates for the neglected surgical patient. The goal of the G4 Alliance aims is to ensure worldwide access to safe, timely, and affordable emergency and essential SOTA care.
Laura also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Gillings School of Global Health, where she teaches master’s and doctoral courses in systems and design thinking and communications. She holds a doctorate in public health from UNC, an MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a BS in journalism from Northwestern University. She is fluent in English, French, and Sango.
